Gadsden County Public Library Class Offerings

February / March Classes

Multicultural Heritage Genealogy Research Lab (Quincy)
Tuesdays, February 4, 11, 18, 25, March 4, 11 - 5:30 – 8:00 PM

This class is intended for individuals who are interested in learning how to employ online resources in researching their family history. You will learn how to create an online toolkit most useful for your genealogy research. The instructor will assist you in navigating online genealogy websites, databases, and forums and help solve problems you encounter in your searches. She will provide pointers for utilizing using both genealogy and non-genealogy features of the internet, including online collections available through State Archives and Historical Societies. This class will consist of 50% online research and 50% lecture.

Creative Photography for iPhone Users (Havana)
Mondays, February 10 & 17, 2014 - 5:30 – 8 PM

This is a thorough class where you'll learn the tools, techniques, and photography tips to create gorgeous iPhone photographs. You will not only learn the basic principles of great photography, you will also learn how to use five of the most powerful iPhone Photography apps on the market. Finally, what good are great photos if you can’t share them? We will show you how to quickly and easily share your newly created masterpieces with your friends and family.

Instagram Workshop (Havana)
Monday, March 3, 2014 - 5:30 – 8 PM

In this class, you'll learn about the Instagram community and the various ways to interact on the application (such as hashtags, @'s, etc). You'll also learn about the best apps to use for editing and creating unique images, as well as photo-taking tips.

Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 1:30 AM – 4:00 PM (Chattahoochee) Skype is a fun way to communicate with friends or family traveling, or who live in another state, country, or continent. *Skype is a FREE download that can be used as an alternative to a phone. In this class you will learn how to download Skype, set up an account, create your profile, create contacts, make a call, learn to chat and more!
